FAQs
For a fitted latex top, which areas require the most dressing aid?
The shoulders, armholes/sleeves, and bust. The material must stretch significantly over the shoulders and bust. You must apply a generous amount of silicone dressing aid (lube) or talcum powder to the interior. Concentrate the product on the shoulder seams and the inside of the armholes (and sleeves, if applicable) to minimize friction and prevent tearing.
How do I prevent long fingernails or jewelry from tearing the material near the neck and bust
Use only the soft pad of your fingers or wear cotton gloves. Latex, especially around delicate openings, is highly prone to punctures. Always use the flat, soft pad of your fingers when pulling or adjusting the top, and remove all rings and bracelets before handling to prevent tears and stains.
What maintenance is needed for zippers, if present, on the latex top?
Regular silicone oil application is essential, and isolate the metal. The zipper is a point of constant tension. Regularly apply a small amount of silicone oil (not dressing lube) directly to the zipper teeth. When storing, ensure the metal pull tab is isolated or wrapped with acid-free tissue paper to prevent metal-induced staining of the surrounding latex.
What is the most important step for cleaning a top worn close to the skin?
Immediate and thorough washing of the interior to remove sweat and oils. Sweat and body oils degrade latex rapidly. Immediately after wearing, hand wash the garment with a dedicated latex cleaner or mild soap. Ensure the interior is completely rinsed (repeatedly) to remove all sweat residue, then hang it inside-out to dry fully in a cool, dark place.
