FAQs
Which dressing aid is best for putting on a latex swimsuit, especially when wet?
Silicone-based Dressing Aid (Lube). Unlike dry wear, the best method for wet latex (or preparing for water sports) is a generous coating of silicone lube on the inside. This ensures the suit glides smoothly over wet skin, minimizes friction, and offers the best barrier against chlorine and saltwater.
Does chlorine or saltwater damage latex swimwear, and how can I minimize it?
Yes, both severely damage latex. Chlorine and saltwater are highly corrosive and cause rapid degradation (hardening, cracking, stickiness). Always rinse the suit immediately after leaving the pool or ocean with fresh, cool water, before beginning a thorough cleaning. Do not allow the suit to dry with chlorine/salt residue on it.
What is the most important step for cleaning a latex swimsuit after use?
Immediate and thorough washing with dedicated latex cleaner. Due to the high exposure to contaminants (chlorine, salt, sun cream, body oils), the suit must be immediately hand-washed with a specialized latex cleaner and lukewarm water. Rinse the entire interior and exterior multiple times until the water runs completely clear and all slick residue is gone.
How should latex swimwear be stored long-term, especially given the exposure to water?
Store 100% dry, flat, and separate. Never store the suit damp. Ensure the latex is completely dry (hang in a dark, cool place) and lightly powdered before storing. Place the suit flat (never folded) in its own individual, opaque storage bag or box, away from light and heat.
